Ramban, August 7 — Security personnel discharged warning shots early Friday morning after a sports utility vehicle barrelled through a police checkpoint in the Ramban district. Authorities quickly located the deserted Scorpio shortly after the incident, though the individuals inside had already evaded capture.
The vehicle, travelling along the route from Srinagar toward Jammu, was directed to halt at the JP Gate security post in Chanderkote. Instead of complying with the routine inspection, the driver accelerated past the barriers, speeding aggressively towards the Nashri area.
In a swift response to the breach, stationed personnel fired three rounds in an effort to disable or deter the fleeing vehicle. A widespread search operation was immediately set in motion across the surrounding terrain to locate the suspects.
“The vehicle was later intercepted and recovered, but the occupants had fled from the spot before security forces could apprehend them,” an official maintained.
Local law enforcement agencies have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the identity of the suspects and their motives for evading the security detail.
