Chandigarh, July 13: Security agencies launched immediate investigations after several schools and public offices in Chandigarh and Mohali received fresh bomb threat emails detailing planned blasts for July 17. The widespread scare coincides directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana to announce multiple development projects.

Local law enforcement officials stated that the digital warnings explicitly targeted public infrastructure, specific leaders, and educational institutions. “In the email sent to various schools in Mohali and Chandigarh, the email threatened to plant bombs in schools and the Mohali Mayor’s office and to carry out IED blasts at the Jalandhar and Chandigarh railway stations,” an official affirmed.

The electronic message detailed specific timings for the alleged disruptions, asserting that schools would face danger at 1:11 pm while the mayoral office would be targeted at 3:11 pm. The sender further warned the public against attending the Prime Minister’s rally and claimed support for actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, while also threatening the life of Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu.

While regional analysts remain divided on the source, some observers view the senders as fringe elements, whereas others maintain that these are organized attempts to distract police forces from ongoing criminal activities. Regional security teams noted that while almost all recent threats have turned out to be hoaxes, the agencies cannot afford to lower their guard by ignoring these emails.
