MOHALI, Dec. 5 — Mohali police on Wednesday arrested the seventh operative linked to the Goldy Dhillon gang, continuing the crackdown on the criminal module.
The accused, Rajat Kumar, also known as Rajan, is a resident of Jansua village in Rajpura. Police said he helped gang members move between locations, arranged shelter, and supplied weapons.
Senior superintendent of police Harman Deep Singh Hans said the arrest is part of the state’s ongoing campaign against organised crime, led by chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. “Mohali police, with AGTF, first arrested two shooters on November 12, followed by four more near the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway on November 26,” he said.
He added that Kumar was caught after a probe by a special team supervised by SP (rural) Manpreet Singh and Dera Bassi DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar revealed his role. “Acting on the input, joint teams apprehended him near the Dera Bassi bus stand,” Hans said.
Kumar has previous cases of snatching and Arms Act violations registered in Punjab and Haryana. Preliminary investigation shows he met gang members during his 2019 jail term and had been following the directions of handler Mandeep, based in Spain.
With this arrest, police have seized nine pistols and 80 live cartridges from the module so far.
