LUCKNOW, July 17: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a comprehensive infrastructure initiative for western Uttar Pradesh, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 89 development projects valued at more than Rs 581 crore across the Shamli, Thanabhawan, and Kairana Assembly segments while labelling the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress as “worshippers of Jinnah”. He alleged that these opposition parties deliberately altered the demography of Shamli and Kairana, which previously forced local Hindu families to migrate due to rampant extortion, fear, and lawlessness prior to 2017.

The development push is aimed at sustaining the economic momentum of the region through enhanced connectivity and industrial expansion.

The Chief Minister asserted that the region has undergone a significant structural shift over the last decade, transitioning into a prominent connectivity hub. The ongoing transformation is anchored by major regional road networks, with Shamli now positioned at the intersection of the Delhi-Dehradun, Shamli-Ambala, and Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressways. Organizers maintained that this robust logistical network will help position the area among the economically most prosperous zones within the National Capital Region.

The administrative focus shifted toward long-term public safety and regional stability during the official briefings. The Chief Minister declared that law enforcement protocols remain highly stringent across western Uttar Pradesh, establishing a secure framework that protects local businesses and residents. A grand Provincial Armed Constabulary battalion is also being permanently established in Kairana to strengthen regional security assets.

Agriculture and rural economy updates were heavily featured during the public address, highlighting substantial progress in the state’s sugar sector. The Chief Minister affirmed that between 2007 and 2017, approximately 29 sugar mills had been shut down or sold off under previous administrations. Under the current double-engine governance model, 122 sugar mills are fully operational, ensuring timely payments to sugarcane farmers at an enhanced rate of Rs 400 per quintal.

The industrial profile of the district is set to expand further with the announcement of the state’s first integrated private textiles project in Shamli. Senior officials maintained that the upcoming manufacturing site is projected to generate roughly 8,000 employment opportunities for local youth, aligning with the broader economic development blueprint for the western belt.

The event concluded with an administrative appeal to local organizations regarding the management of upcoming religious processions. The Chief Minister stated that absolute discipline and patience must be maintained during seasonal public events to ensure communal harmony. He maintained that administrative teams will work diligently to ensure that the sanctity of regional festivals is preserved without any public disruption.
