Rao, Director General of Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, said he was unaware of the incident until media reports surfaced. “As a father, I was shocked and devastated when I learned about it,” he told ANI.
“She is not living with us but separately with her husband. There must be some family issues. The law will take its course. There is no black mark in my career, and I don’t want to say anything more.”
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) said Ranya was intercepted at Kempegowda International Airport upon her arrival from Dubai on March 3. Gold bars were found ingeniously concealed on her person, officials stated.
Following her arrest under the Customs Act, DRI officers searched her residence on Lavelle Road, Bengaluru, where she lives with her husband. They seized gold jewelry worth ₹2.06 crore and ₹2.67 crore in cash.
Originally from Chikmagalur, Ranya studied engineering in Bengaluru before entering films. She debuted in Kannada cinema with Maanikya (2014) and later acted in Wagah (2016) and Pataki (2017).
