Ludhiana, October 8: Boosting Punjab’s industrial sector, Shiva Texfabs Limited, a Ludhiana-based textile manufacturing company, has announced an investment of ₹815 crore to set up a new textile and apparel manufacturing unit in the district.
The investment, facilitated under the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government’s industry-friendly policies, is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for local youth. Officials said the expansion will further strengthen Ludhiana’s position as one of India’s leading textile hubs.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the project reflects growing investor confidence in Punjab’s governance and ease-of-doing-business reforms. “Our government is committed to providing a transparent and time-bound system for industrialists. Punjab is now among the most preferred destinations for investment,” he said.
According to officials, the company received full cooperation from state departments through a single-window system that ensures quick approvals and minimal bureaucratic delays. Industrialists have cited the simplified clearance procedures and digital transparency as key reasons for choosing Punjab for expansion.
Founded in 2012, Shiva Texfabs Limited manufactures polyester filament, spun polyester yarn, and high-performance fabrics. The company is part of the Shiva Group, which operates multiple units in Ludhiana district.
The ₹815 crore project is part of Punjab’s larger effort to attract industrial investments and reduce reliance on agriculture as the primary economic driver. State officials said the new unit will also benefit small and medium enterprises that supply materials and services to the textile industry.
Punjab’s new industrial and business development policy aims to promote large-scale manufacturing and create employment through faster approvals, fiscal incentives, and infrastructure support. The government has also streamlined processes under the Punjab Right to Business Act to encourage entrepreneurs to set up factories with minimal procedural delays.
With this investment, Punjab continues to position itself as a growing industrial hub in North India. Officials said the state is working to attract more domestic and foreign investments under the “Make in Punjab” initiative to expand its manufacturing base and create sustainable jobs.
