Mumbai, 24 October, 2024: Three suspected shooters involved in the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui were reportedly in contact with Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, via Snapchat before the crime, the Mumbai Crime Branch revealed.

The shooters allegedly coordinated with Anmol using the messaging app, exchanging details prior to carrying out the fatal attack, Police said.

Baba Siddiqui, a former MLA, was shot outside his office in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai, on October 12. He sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Crime Branch has arrested 10 suspects so far, including two of the shooters and a weapon supplier. Investigators found that the arrested suspects communicated with Anmol Bishnoi and Pune-based Praveen Lonkar, believed to be the mastermind, via Snapchat. The suspects reportedly deleted messages after receiving them to cover their tracks, police said.

“Anmol Bishnoi was in contact with the accused from Canada and the U.S., and four mobile phones have been seized as part of the investigation,” police stated. Despite the arrests, several suspects, including shooter Shivkumar Gautam, remain at large.

In connection with the case, Mumbai Police suspended police security guard Shyam Sonawane, who was with Siddiqui at the time of the incident.
