Georgia, Jan 24: A violent confrontation at a Georgia home has left four people dead, including an Indian citizen, in what law enforcement officials are categorizing as a family-related shooting. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday in Lawrenceville, prompting a rapid response from Gwinnett County police and a subsequent offer of support from the Indian consulate.

The alleged shooter, identified by Fox5 Atlanta as Vijay Kumar, was apprehended at the scene and is now facing multiple counts of murder and child cruelty. According to police reports, the bodies of two men and two women were found inside the residence after a child dialed 911. The victims included 43-year-old Meemu Dogra and 33-year-old Gourav Kumar, along with Nidhi and Harish Chander.

The Consulate General of India in Atlanta issued a public message regarding the loss of life and the ongoing legal process. “The alleged shooter has been arrested, and all possible assistance is being extended to the bereaved family,” the consulate said, while also noting the “tragic” nature of the dispute that led to the fatalities.

Officers who reached the block of Brook Ivy Court within minutes of the call said the children inside the home were instrumental in alerting authorities. The minors were not injured during the shooting and were later picked up by relatives. Investigators noted that the children had sought refuge in a closet while the suspect allegedly opened fire on the adults in the house.

The suspect now faces four counts of felony murder and four counts of malice murder. Local authorities said the investigation is still active as they piece together the specific motives behind the domestic conflict. The Indian mission remains engaged with the situation to ensure the welfare of the affected family members.
