Mansa, Oct 19: Balkaur Singh, father of late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Moosewala, announced the postponement of the remaining dates of the ‘Signed to God’ hologram tour across Canada and the US, attributing the decision to the ongoing situation and protests in Punjab following the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota.
Addressing supporters through a social media update, Balkaur Singh asserted that the state remains his primary focus, declaring that Punjab comes first alongside his home constituency of Mansa.
Expressing regret to fans scheduled to attend performances in Calgary and the US, he stated that while he could not meet them during this run, he plans to return with an updated presentation of his late son’s music. He maintained that sold-out shows in Toronto and Vancouver had already been successfully completed prior to the remaining schedule being put on hold.
The decision aligns with similar actions across the cultural sector, following Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa’s earlier announcement putting her film project ‘Thaapi’ on hold amid continued demonstrations in Mansa over the October 13 shooting of Jhota at a local establishment.
