Chandigarh, 15 December 2024: A Canadian-origin Indian woman has accused renowned Punjabi singer Raj Singh Jujhar, also known as Raj Jujhar, of rape, cheating, and financial exploitation.

The case, registered at the NRI police station in Jalandhar on November 30, charges the singer under Sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), and 406 (breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.

The complainant alleged Jujhar concealed his first marriage, duped her of Rs 44 lakh, and exploited her for financial gain. She claimed Jujhar married her fraudulently in 2007, leading to the birth of their child, only for her to later discover his prior marital status.

According to the complaint sent to the ADGP of the NRI Wing on October 23, the woman provided evidence of Jujhar’s alleged deceit and blackmail, which police say led to the filing of charges.

Jujhar reportedly avoided responding to police notices and denied the relationship.

The investigation revealed the victim first met the singer in Canada in 2006 before returning to India, where their alleged marriage and subsequent exploitation occurred.
