SIRHIND, May 11 — In a show of solidarity with the armed forces, prominent civil society groups in Sirhind have offered their services to the district administration, pledging full support for any duties needed in the national interest.
Senior Citizens Association Sirhind, Sanatan Dharm Mandir Committee, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Bharat Vikas Parishad, and several other NGOs have urged authorities to assign them roles in civil defence or any other capacity during the current national situation.
The groups also announced plans to organise a large-scale blood donation camp for armed forces personnel.
“We are ready to serve the nation in any role the administration sees fit,” representatives of the organisations said in a joint appeal, underlining their readiness to support emergency efforts and national defence.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind and Senior Superintendent of Police Shubham Aggarwal acknowledged the gesture, expressing appreciation for the civic initiative.
“We thank all citizens and organisations for coming forward in this hour. Please submit a list of willing volunteers so we can assign civil defence duties if needed,” said Dr. Thind.
The deputy commissioner also announced that the district administration is setting up a portal where individuals can register themselves and indicate their skills or areas of expertise.
“This will help us coordinate effectively if an emergency arises,” she said.
Calling on residents to donate blood, Dr. Thind noted that the collected units could be directed to army hospitals.
“Our forces are fully prepared and capable of handling any situation. There is no need to panic,” she added.
The move marks a surge in community participation in Sirhind, as citizens step up to offer active support during uncertain times.
