Chandigarh, March 21: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Prabhari and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday issued a stern directive to party legislators, asserting that they must take absolute responsibility for making every village in their constituencies drug-free. Addressing a large gathering of MLAs and block officials in Amritsar, Sisodia stated that the “Yudh Nashean Virudh” campaign is a mission-mode struggle that requires daily accountability and a zero-tolerance approach toward narcotics.
The senior leader declared that if drugs are being sold in any ward or village, the local MLA has failed in their fundamental responsibility. He maintained that the party was born out of struggle at Jantar Mantar rather than a desire for power, and affirmed that those who lack the courage to confront drug mafias should leave the organization. Sisodia stated that between March 24 and March 31, comprehensive block-level meetings will be held to identify those responsible for the drug trade at the grassroots level.
Recalling the challenges faced by the AAP administration in Delhi, Sisodia noted that despite the central government withdrawing various administrative powers, the party successfully delivered landmark reforms in education and healthcare. He asserted that the same spirit of resilience must be applied to the fight against drugs in Punjab. He further stated that any party worker found to have links with peddlers would face immediate imprisonment, as per the clear instructions of Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
To encourage public participation, Sisodia noted a new mobile application designed for reporting drug-related activities. He affirmed that the platform ensures complete anonymity for whistleblowers, with even high-ranking officials unable to access the identity of the informant. He maintained that this technology allows citizens to report fearlessly, ensuring that action is tracked without compromising safety.
The Punjab Prabhari concluded by announcing that he will personally review the progress of every constituency after March 31. He stated that MLAs must present verified data on drug-free villages and commit to strict timelines for total elimination. He maintained that this battle is not merely for political gain but to secure the future of Punjab’s children.
