CHANDIGARH, Jan 3 — A Special Investigation Team probing the disappearance of 328 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib on Wednesday carried out searches at nearly 15 locations across Punjab and Chandigarh, police said.

The raids were conducted at residences and offices connected to 16 accused persons in the case. Officials said the locations searched included Chandigarh, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Ropar.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who is supervising the probe, confirmed the operation and said the investigation was being carried out strictly within the legal framework.

“The SIT is proceeding on merit and as per the law. Every piece of evidence related to the case will be brought on record,” Bhullar said.

He added that the investigation would be taken to its logical end and made it clear that status or influence would not shield anyone found guilty.

“No person involved will be spared, irrespective of their position,” Bhullar said.

The case relates to the disappearance of 328 saroops of the Sikh holy scripture, an issue that has remained under investigation amid demands for accountability and transparency.
