Snow likely in Himachal on Dec 4, 5

Shimla, Nov 29: Himachal Pradesh is expected to see a fresh spell of snowfall on December 4 and 5 after several days of dry weather, the State Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

An official of the department said the weather will remain “completely dry till December 3,” but added that “light snowfall and rain are very likely over the higher hills on December 4.” According to the department, plains, low hills and mid-hill regions will stay dry.

On December 5, isolated areas in the higher and middle hills may receive “light rain or snowfall,” while the rest of the state will not see any change in conditions. “After December 5, the weather will turn dry again across Himachal,” the official said.

Minimum temperatures are likely to drop by 2°C to 5°C over the next few days, making mornings considerably colder. Maximum temperatures are also expected to fall by 2°C to 3°C.

Most of Himachal recorded a sunny day on Friday. Minimum temperatures ranged from –7°C in Tabo to 13°C in Nahan. Shimla and Dharamsala logged 7°C, while Manali recorded 1.9°C. Kalpa stood at 0.4°C and Kukumseri at –4.8°C.

Una was the warmest with a maximum of 27°C, while Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti remained the coldest at –7°C.
