Faridkot, November 19, 2024: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan administered the oath of office to 1,653 panchayat members from 241 gram panchayats in a ceremony held at Nehru Stadium, Faridkot with the newly elected members including 788 from Faridkot block, 375 from Kotkapura block, and 490 from Jaito block.
Addressing the gathering, Sandhawan stressed the importance of transparent governance in village development.
He urged the panchayat members to unite their communities and work beyond factionalism and discrimination, ensuring progress through collective efforts.
“Only new panchayats can bring transformative changes to villages. Members must engage with villagers to prioritize their needs and utilize available funds effectively,” Sandhawan remarked.
He also advised the members to rise above partisanship and focus on initiatives that cater to the welfare of the community.
Stressing the importance of responsible fund management, he called for public money to be directed toward meaningful development projects benefiting the villages.
