New Delhi, April 8: Anandpurl Sahib Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang has formally requested the Government of India to expedite the conversion of the road connecting Banga to Sri Anandpur Sahib into a four-lane highway.
During the recent Lok Sabha session, the MP asserted that the existing infrastructure requires an immediate upgrade to accommodate the high volume of pilgrims traveling through the region.
The proposed project aims to connect the Majha and Doaba regions more effectively, providing a direct and safer route for those visiting the historic Anandpur Sahib shrine. Kang stated that the current road conditions often pose challenges for the thousands of devotees who frequent the area for religious purposes.
“Lakhs of people travel from the Majha to the Doaba region to pay obeisance at the Anandpur Sahib shrine,” the MP affirmed. “Constructing this as a four-lane road as soon as possible would provide significant ease, particularly for elderly travelers and those on long-distance pilgrimages.”
The MP maintained that the development of this corridor is essential for the regional economy and the safety of commuters. He declared that the central government must prioritize this infrastructure project to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during major religious festivals and daily transit.
