Taraori, Sept 11: Tension gripped Taraori in Haryana on Wednesday evening after a police team conducting a narcotics raid was violently attacked by locals, leaving a Sub-Inspector seriously injured.

According to officials, a team from the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) raided a house suspected of drug-related activities. As the police entered, a group of people — including family members and relatives of the suspects — allegedly assaulted them with sticks and sharp-edged weapons.

During the scuffle, Sub-Inspector Rohtash suffered multiple injuries. He was rushed to a government hospital and later shifted to a private facility, where he remains under treatment.

“The attackers tried to obstruct police officials from performing their duty,” an officer said, noting that the violence broke out suddenly as the team attempted to carry out the search.

Following the assault, the accused fled the scene. Taraori police registered a case under sections of attempted murder and obstructing government officials. Multiple teams launched a combing operation in the area, and several suspects were detained for questioning.

Sub-Inspector Karambir of Taraori police confirmed, “We have registered a case against 10–12 people for attempted murder and for creating obstacles in the way of government officials on duty. Several suspects have been rounded up, and further investigation is underway.”

Police officials said efforts are continuing to trace all those involved in the attack. Security in the area has been tightened to prevent further unrest.
