TARN TARAN, June 27 — Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Tarn Taran, Kashmir Singh Sohal, passed away at his residence on Friday after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the death of the first-time legislator, calling him a committed and tireless worker of the party.
“Very sad to hear, Dr Saheb was a hardworking and struggling leader of the party,” Mann posted on X. “Heartfelt sympathies to his family in this sad time. May God grant peace to the departed soul and give patience and courage to the family and loved ones in this difficult time.”
Sohal, a doctor by profession, had joined AAP and contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, defeating senior leaders from traditional parties to represent Tarn Taran.
Party colleagues, supporters, and residents from the constituency mourned his loss, remembering him as a soft-spoken, grounded leader who remained active in public service even during his illness.
Final rites are expected to be held later today, with senior AAP leaders likely to attend.
