Moga, Sept. 30 – At just 19, Moga-based rapper Paramjeet Kaur, also known as Param, has emerged as the latest sensation in the Punjabi music scene with her track That Girl, which has garnered more than 35 lakh views within a week of its release.

Fans and music enthusiasts have drawn comparisons between her style and that of slain singer Sidhu Moosewala, earning her the nickname ‘Lady Moosewala’. The song was produced by UK-based music producer Manni Sandhu, who flew to India specifically for the project. Sharing his experience on Instagram on Tuesday, Sandhu recalled recording the track in a makeshift setup. “The craziest thing is we recorded this track in no expensive studio. There was no acoustic treatment, just a random Airbnb. You could hear cars outside, people shouting, but the vocals came out crisp. Within 10 minutes, we had the vibe of the song down,” he said. Sandhu added that the music video, produced by Tru Makers, perfectly captured their vision.

Param hails from Duneke village in Moga district. Her mother works as a house help while her father is a daily-wager. She is currently studying at DM College in Moga.

In a previous social media post, Param shared how she was inspired to make music. “In college, my friends were writing and singing songs, and after seeing them, I thought I should also do this,” she said.

With her debut track gaining massive traction, Paramjeet Kaur is poised to become one of Punjab’s most talked-about young artists.
