Dubai, Nov 21: An Indian HAL Tejas fighter jet crashed during a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show on Friday, killing the pilot, the Indian Air Force confirmed. The aircraft went down around 2.10 pm local time while performing an aerial display for spectators at the Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai World Central. Thick black smoke rose from the crash site as emergency sirens blared and rescue teams rushed to the spot.
The IAF said a court of inquiry is being set up to determine the cause of the accident. The light combat aircraft, built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, was participating in the international show as part of India’s defence showcase.
