Chandigarh, Aug 11 — Congress MP Manish Tewari today alleged that the BJP-led Municipal Corporation (MC) has been pushed into bankruptcy due to inefficiency and neglect. Speaking at a rally in Daria village, organised by the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, Tewari said development in the city has stalled.
“I once again demand that the Central Government release the MC’s rightful 30 per cent share without delay. I will continue to speak for the people of Chandigarh, no matter who gets hurt by it,” he said.
He assured residents of Daria that their genuine demands would be taken up.
Congress’ city unit chief HS Lucky accused the BJP of systematically destroying the civic body over the past eight years. “Successive BJP Mayors have rolled out one faulty scheme after another, driving the MC towards financial collapse. The Ministry of Home Affairs’ refusal to release funds proves the BJP’s arrogance and insensitivity towards Chandigarh’s citizens,” he said.
