Three Arrested for IPL Betting in Tricity

ZIRAKPUR. April 14: — Cracking down on illegal betting during the ongoing IPL season, police have arrested three persons and recovered a haul of electronic devices, vehicles, and cash, including foreign currency.

The suspects have been identified as Ashu Garg of Bathinda, Ankit Singla of Dhakoli, and Naresh Kumar from Sector 69, Mohali. According to police, the trio was actively accepting bets on IPL matches when they were apprehended.

The raid led to the seizure of four laptops, 12 mobile phones, two LED screens, two cars, and a substantial amount of cash, which also included foreign currency.

This is the second betting network busted in the area within a week. Last week, seven individuals were arrested from a housing society in Peermuchhala, Dhakoli, for running a similar online racket. Police recovered 20 mobile phones and three laptops from them.

Those arrested in the earlier case were identified as Avdesh Tomar, Sandeep Dangi, Neeraj, Shivam Patel, Ranjit Singh, Shashikant, and Rahul Namdev, all residents of Madhya Pradesh.

Police said investigations are underway to determine whether the two groups were part of a larger syndicate.
