Nabha, 10 January 2025 – A tragic accident in Dittupur village of Nabha block last night claimed the lives of three young men when their car plunged into a village pond due to thick fog.
The victims, Kamalpreet, 18, a student, Hardeep Singh, 30, a Navy personnel, and Inderjot Singh, 23, an employee at Verka Milk Plant, died instantly. Another passenger was pulled from the car in time but survived.
The accident occurred at around 8:30 pm when five young men were returning home. One of them, trying to guide the driver with a mobile torch, stepped out of the car, but the fog’s intensity made it impossible for the driver to navigate, leading the car off course.
Village Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh explained that the dense fog, along with unexpected conditions, caused the car to veer into the pond. The victims, all the only sons in their families, left the community in mourning.
Villagers further expressed that this tragic incident is unprecedented in their village, especially with large trolleys passing through and damaging the railing, contributing to the accident.
