Mohali, 9 February 2025: Sohana police arrested three men in Mohali’s Bathlana village on suspicion of involvement in multiple snatchings and robberies. A country-made pistol and seven live cartridges were recovered from them, police said.
The accused, all residents of Ludhiana district, were identified as Sandeep Singh of Rajewal village, Kulwant Singh alias Kalu of Samrala, and Gurshan Singh alias Sharan of Balion. A fourth suspect, Aman Vailey from Haido village, managed to escape.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint near Bathlana bus stand after receiving information that four suspects were traveling from Manakpur village towards Mohali. “Three were apprehended, but one managed to flee,” an investigator said.
According to police, the accused were likely planning a robbery when they were caught. “Kalu has a criminal history and was previously booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” the investigator added.
The suspects were presented before a local court on Saturday and remanded to three days of police custody for further questioning. Authorities are investigating the source of the illegal weapon and their intentions, but police have ruled out any links to gangsters.
