Shimla, 1 March 2025 — A 24-year-old tourist from Maharashtra died after a fire broke out in a hotel room in Shimla’s Kachi Ghati area late on Friday night, police said.
The deceased, Ritesh Pudale from Sangli district, was sleeping on the first floor when the fire started around 11 pm.
His two friends, Ashish and Avdhoot Patil, managed to escape but sustained burn injuries and were hospitalized.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, officials said.
The hotel management alerted the fire department, which brought the blaze under control.
Pudale’s body was recovered and sent to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem.
