Kangra, April 10: A tragic accident in the Dehra subdivision of Kangra district resulted in the deaths of three pilgrims after their tractor-trolley veered off the road and fell into a 90-foot gorge. The incident occurred near Dhaliara as the group, hailing from Kapurthala in Punjab, was traveling between two major religious sites on Friday.

The devotees were heading toward the Jwalamukhi Temple after offering prayers at the Chintpurni Temple. Local officials stated that the driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp bend near the Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan. Preliminary findings by the investigating teams suggest that a mechanical failure, specifically a brake malfunction, may have caused the vehicle to skid off the roadway.

Emergency responders and local residents launched an immediate rescue operation to retrieve the passengers from the deep ravine. Police authorities affirmed that the injured individuals were quickly transported to the Civil Hospital in Dehra for medical attention. Medical staff at the facility maintained that the condition of several patients remains critical.

Witnesses at the scene described a period of intense panic following the crash before community members arrived to assist the victims. Law enforcement officials asserted that a full investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal plunge.
