New Delhi, October 2: Two suspected members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan gang, who were allegedly tasked with killing stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 2024 winner Munawar Faruqi, were arrested in Delhi following a gunfight with police, officials said Thursday.

The encounter took place on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road, where the suspects opened fire at a police team. Officers returned fire and overpowered the men, later identified as Rahul, a resident of Panipat, and Sahil, from Bhiwani in Haryana. “Both were being directed by foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara to carry out the attack,” a senior police officer stated.

Investigators said the duo had been following Faruqi’s movements for weeks. “They had conducted reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru in order to track his activities,” the officer noted. Faruqi, who rose to prominence after winning the reality show Bigg Boss in 2024, has a massive social media following with more than 14.2 million Instagram followers.

Rahul sustained a gunshot injury during the exchange and was later admitted to a hospital. Police revealed that he was already wanted in connection with a triple murder in Yamunanagar, Haryana, reported in December 2024. Sahil was taken into custody without major injuries.

Authorities recovered two firearms and a motorcycle from the suspects. “The weapons used in the shootout have been seized and further investigation into their criminal network is underway,” the officer said.

Police sources mentioned that the instructions for the assassination attempt came from Godara, who has been coordinating with gangsters Goldy Brar and Virender Charan from abroad. The motive, officers said, was to establish dominance among rival gangs while targeting high-profile personalities.
