Chandigarh, 19 Oct. 25— Two men were arrested for allegedly producing and using forged documents to help candidates secure government jobs, police said on Saturday. The suspects, identified as Vikram and Tarun Grewal, residents of Hisar, were reportedly running the operation for several years.

According to police, the case was registered at the Aerocity police station following a complaint by Gautam, a native of Uttarakhand, who alleged that the men provided fake disability certificates to facilitate his employment.

During the investigation, authorities recovered multiple forged Aadhaar cards, a laptop, and other incriminating documents from the accused.

“The suspects have been involved in this illegal practice since 2016-17. They used to charge between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh and promised candidates well-paying government jobs,” a senior police official noted.

Police said the operation was elaborate, with the accused reportedly crafting documents that appeared authentic, targeting individuals seeking government positions through fraudulent means. “This was a well-planned scam where candidates were duped into believing they had a legitimate path to employment,” the official added.

Further investigation is underway to identify other potential beneficiaries of the forged certificates and to determine the full extent of the operation. Authorities are also examining the laptop and recovered documents to trace additional connections and unearth the network allegedly involved in the forgery racket.

The Aerocity police assured strict action against anyone found aiding or abetting such illegal practices. “We are committed to ensuring that government jobs reach deserving candidates and that fraudulent practices are rooted out,” the officer said.

Vikram and Tarun Grewal remain in custody, and police have indicated that more arrests could follow as the investigation progresses.
