Mohali, 1 March, 2025 — The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) arrested two men in Sector 88, Mohali, recovering two pistols, seven cartridges, and a motorcycle, police said on Friday.
The accused, Rudransh Verma, alias Anshu, of Sohana, and Prashant Sharma of Rupnagar, were reportedly roaming Mohali and Kharar with weapons, allegedly planning a crime.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint in Sector 88 to intercept them.
“Based on specific input, we learned that two youths were carrying weapons and moving towards Bannur. A checkpoint was established, and when they spotted it, they attempted a U-turn. Our team pursued and apprehended them,” said Sub-Inspector Harminder Singh.
A case has been registered at SSOC police station under Sections 61(2B) of BNS and 25(1), 54, and 59 of the Arms Act. Both were produced in district court on Friday and have been sent to three-day police remand.
