Mansa, July 6: A devastating head-on collision between a car and a heavy truck resulted in the deaths of two youths and left two others injured on Saturday night. The fatal incident occurred near Kotra Kalan village, abruptly halting the victims’ journey to Patiala.
Authorities identified the deceased as twenty-six-year-old Jatin Verma from Mansa and thirty-year-old Surinder Pal Singh of Akkanwali village. Their companions, Avtar Singh and Jashandeep Singh, both residents of Mansa, survived the violent crash with injuries and are receiving medical attention.
The group was traveling from Mansa towards Bhikhi, intending to pay obeisance at the Kali Mata temple. According to site reports, tragedy struck when a truck approaching from the opposite direction executed a sharp turn. The heavy vehicle spiraled out of control and rammed directly into their path, with the sheer force of the impact leaving the passenger car entirely mangled.
Law enforcement swiftly intervened at the scene, taking the truck driver, identified as Bhola Singh of Balloh village, into custody.
“The heavy vehicle appears to have lost control during a sudden maneuver, causing massive structural damage to the oncoming car,” an investigating official stated.
“We have secured the suspect and initiated a thorough investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to this tragedy,” the official declared.
