Shimla, September 17: The Himachal Pradesh High Court is set to get two new judges, with the Supreme Court Collegium approving the elevation of senior advocates Jiya Lal Bhardwaj and Romesh Verma.

A statement issued by the Supreme Court registry on Monday said the Collegium, in its meeting on September 15, 2025, cleared both names for appointment.

Once the appointments are notified, the working strength of the Himachal Pradesh High Court will rise from the current 11 to 13 judges, including the Chief Justice.

The sanctioned strength of the court had been enhanced from 13 to 17 judges in June 2022, though several positions remain vacant.
