Chandigarh, Oct 18: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Punjab on October 20, senior party leadership confirmed, marking his second visit to the state within a single month.

Confirming the visit, BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu stated in a post on social media that the state welcomes the Home Minister on his arrival. Bittu asserted that at a time when Punjab is battling the grave menace of drugs, there is a clear need for decisive action, strong leadership, and a firm resolve to secure the youth and future of the state. He maintained that citizens should have faith in efforts aimed at making Punjab drug-free.

The visit follows the Home Minister’s earlier trip to Jalandhar on September 30, where he addressed a gathering marking the conclusion of the Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra.

While official details of the itinerary are being finalised, party sources declared that the Home Minister is likely to visit Mansa to meet the family of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, who died on October 13. The Ministry of Home Affairs had previously sought reports regarding the deaths of Jhota, Bikramjit Singh, and Gulzar Singh as part of its review of law and order matters in the region.
