LUCKNOW, Dec 19 — The Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha will resume its proceedings on December 22 after adjourning Friday to pay condolences to the late member Shubhkar Singh, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said.

“One of our members, Shubhkar Singh, has passed away… Tributes will be paid to him today, after which the House will adjourn. The House will then resume on Monday at 11:00 am,” Mahana told reporters. He added, “Whatever the discussions are, they will continue from December 22 and conclude on December 24.”

The adjournment follows routine legislative work, including addressing public issues and department demands. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said members will also review supplementary demands of various departments during the session.

“An important discussion will be held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the National Anthem ‘Vande Mataram’, and thanks will be given to its author, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay,” Yogi said. He noted that the date of Uttar Pradesh’s establishment coincides with the constitutional recognition of ‘Vande Mataram,’ making the discussion in the Legislature significant.

Mahana confirmed the government is fully prepared to address all issues raised by opposition members when the session resumes.
