Lucknow, Jan 5: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a one-time relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for candidates applying to police recruitment under Direct Recruitment 2025, offering relief to lakhs of youth preparing for the examinations.
The decision, taken on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, applies to the recruitment of 32,679 posts, including Constable Civil Police, PAC/Armed Police, Special Security Force, Women Battalion constables, Mounted Police, and Jail Warders.
A government order issued in this regard states that the age relaxation will be extended once to all candidates participating in the recruitment process, irrespective of category.
“This decision has been taken keeping the interests of candidates at the forefront,” the state government said, adding that the move aims to ensure fairness for aspirants affected by delays in recruitment cycles.
Officials said the relaxation will apply to male and female candidates, depending on the post, and will be valid only for the upcoming recruitment drive.
The state government said that providing equal opportunities to youth preparing for competitive examinations and responding sensitively to administrative challenges remains part of its governance approach.
The recruitment process is expected to begin later this year, with detailed notifications to be issued by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.
