CHANDIGARH, February 10: Punjab Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has registered eight FIRs against travel agents linked to a multinational human trafficking network that deceived individuals with false promises of illegal entry into the United States.

The action follows statements recorded from deported Indian citizens who landed in Amritsar after being sent back from the US.

Based on complaints from victims, two FIRs have been registered in district police jurisdictions and six in the NRI Affairs Wing.

The SIT, led by ADGP NRI Affairs Praveen Sinha, includes ADGP Internal Security Shive Kumar Verma, IGP Provisioning Dr. S Boopathi, and DIG Border Range Satinder Singh.

The team is closely monitoring the investigation to ensure due process and effective action against those involved.

Senior police officials have personally met the deportees to address their grievances and assure them of legal recourse with commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) across multiple districts coordinating with the SIT to bring offenders to justice.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav stated that Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling fraudulent immigration networks and preventing further exploitation of vulnerable individuals.

He noted that the SIT is working diligently to hold those responsible accountable.

Punjab Police urged citizens to stay vigilant and report any fraudulent immigration activities to authorities.

The force remains focused on safeguarding people’s rights and taking strict action against illegal human trafficking.
