UT to Review HC’s Single-Source Order Today

Chandigarh, Dec 12: Chandigarh Administration officials will meet on Friday to discuss how to implement a Punjab and Haryana High Court order directing the Union Territory to select a consultant for the new high court complex through a single-source mechanism.

A senior UT officer said the engineering department will “review the steps required to comply with the order” and coordinate with other stakeholders. “The consultant is yet to be finalised, but the court has cleared the way for awarding the work without a tendering process,” the official said.

The court, in its December 5 directive, instructed the UT to adopt single-source selection as per Government of India guidelines, citing an urgent need to expand the existing complex.

The high court had earlier asked the UT on November 21 to issue an expression of interest to appoint a consultant. But the Bar Association moved an application seeking modification of that order, arguing that tendering would delay critical project clearances and push timelines by another two to three months.
