Gurugram, April 9: The Haryana government on Thursday appointed Uttam Singh as the new Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram as part of a significant administrative overhaul involving 15 Indian Administrative Service officers. Singh, who previously managed the Karnal district, assumes the role from Ajay Kumar, who has been reassigned to a high-level position within the Chief Minister’s office.
This bureaucratic restructuring aims to bolster governance and refine administrative output across the state’s primary districts. State representatives affirmed that the periodic rotation of officers is a standard procedure designed to ensure that policy implementation remains effective and that local administrations stay responsive to public needs.
Under the new orders, Ajay Kumar will transition into the role of Deputy Principal Secretary-II to the Chief Minister. The departure comes as the state looks to fill strategic vacancies and realign leadership priorities in rapidly developing urban centers.
Singh is expected to assume his duties in the coming days, facing a portfolio that includes managing Gurugram’s complex infrastructure, civic services, and inter-agency coordination. “The government is committed to placing experienced officers in roles where they can best serve the residents and drive development,” a senior administrative official declared regarding the move.
