Lucknow, June 6: Uttar Pradesh generated Rs 10,635.69 crore in excise revenue during the first two months of the fiscal year, signaling a notable expansion in state collections.

The revenue data, covering April and May 2026, reflects an 8.85 percent growth rate compared to the same operational block last season. State authorities noted that digital tracking systems and transparent administrative rules successfully minimized collection leakages while handling an expansion of commercial activity across the territory.

“The impact of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s governance-driven approach and revenue enhancement strategies is visible across various sectors,” Minister of State for Excise Nitin Agarwal stated. He noted that the structural changes have established new operational standards for the department.

May receipts concluded at Rs 5,387.63 crore, showing steady progress toward annual targets following an initial April yield of nearly Rs 5,248 crore. Alongside fiscal tracking, law enforcement agencies executed a targeted anti-smuggling sweep during May, registering 9,898 formal cases and confiscating 2.29 lakh liters of illicit liquor. The enforcement actions led to 1,564 arrests, with 298 individuals sent to jail and 12 transport vehicles impounded.

Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh stated that the collection represents an increase of Rs 865.01 crore over the Rs 9,770.68 crore collected during the corresponding timeframe last year. He asserted that if the current operational momentum persists, the department remains positioned to surpass historic fiscal records by the close of the current financial year.
