Chandigarh, September 20: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced a significant reduction in the prices of Verka products, effective September 22, following the Centre’s GST 2.0 reforms. The move aims to pass on the tax cut benefits to consumers.
Verka, the state-backed farmers’ cooperative, will reduce ghee prices by Rs 30-35 per litre/kg. Table butter will be cheaper by Rs 30 per kg, unsalted butter by Rs 35 per kg, and processed cheese by Rs 20 per kg. Milk, including standard, toned, and double toned varieties, will see a reduction of Rs 2 per litre.
Other products will also become more affordable. Ice cream in gallons, bricks, and tubs will drop by Rs 10 per litre, while paneer prices will fall by Rs 15 per kg.
The CM said the price cuts reflect the cooperative’s commitment to supporting consumers and farmers alike. “By aligning with the GST reforms, Verka ensures that the benefits of reduced tariffs on essential dairy items reach the common man,” he added.
