GURDASPUR, FEB 23: A day after the fatal shooting of two police personnel near the international border, a terror outfit calling itself Tehrik-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH) has released a purported video of the execution. The unverified footage, which is circulating on social media, allegedly shows an assailant firing at a policeman’s head and contains threats directed at the RSS.

The development follows the discovery of the bodies of Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurnam Singh and Constable Ashok Kumar on Sunday at a checkpost in Adhian village. Investigators asserted that they are currently probing whether the hit was carried out by local gangsters acting on instructions from external handlers.

Gurdaspur police officials affirmed that they have recovered CCTV footage showing five suspects on two motorcycles near the crime scene on the night of the incident. A senior official declared that the terror angle is being seriously considered. “The terror angle cannot be ruled out. We are verifying TTH’s claims with central agencies,” he stated.

Separately, an audio clip featuring the purported voice of Pakistan-based gangster Shehzad Bhatti has surfaced online. In the recording, the speaker endorses the murders, calling them a “befitting reply” to alleged “fake encounters” by the Punjab Police.

The physical evidence at the scene suggested the personnel were caught entirely off guard. Village sarpanch Kamaljit Singh, who discovered the bodies, maintained that the ASI was found near a heater with his hands in his pockets, while the constable was shot while apparently asleep under a quilt. Senior Superintendent of Police Aditya and forensic teams visited the site to collect evidence from the open-access room where the duo was stationed.
