Chandigarh, Oct 3: Punjab is set to hold its Vidhan Sabha session in Anandpur Sahib on November 24, marking the first time in the state’s history that the legislature will convene outside Chandigarh. The session is part of a series of events planned by the Aam Aadmi Party government to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains and Deepak Bali, Advisor in the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, announced the plans after meeting religious leaders to discuss arrangements for the observances.

“We are coordinating with the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat to hold the Assembly session in Anandpur Sahib on November 24,” Bains said.

The celebrations will commence on November 18 with five nagar kirtans departing from various regions across the state. “CM Bhagwant Mann will lead the kirtan from Gurdwara Chathi Patshahi at Srinagar. Two other processions will begin in Majha and Doaba, while additional ones will start from Bathinda and Faridkot in Malwa. All will arrive in Anandpur Sahib by the evening of November 22,” he added.

From November 23 to 25, seminars are planned during the day and kirtans in the evenings. The government will also host blood donation camps, tree planting activities, and organ donation drives as part of the commemoration.

Bains further noted, “A heritage street will be constructed, with the foundation stone laid by the CM on Sunday. A large tent city will also be established from November 19 to 30 to accommodate devotees.”

Officials said that the special Assembly session and associated activities aim to honor the teachings and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur, while promoting cultural engagement and social initiatives in the state.
