Chandigarh, March 13 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Pawan Kumar, a deed writer at Sub-Tehsil Goraya in Jalandhar district, for allegedly accepting a ₹15,000 bribe, officials said Thursday.
An official spokesperson stated that the arrest followed an online complaint filed by a Phagwara resident on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line.
“The complainant alleged that the accused took the bribe on behalf of the Joint Sub-Registrar and a Registry Clerk at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Goraya for executing a sale deed,” the spokesperson said.
The VB’s investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to Kumar’s arrest.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Range Jalandhar.
Officials said he would be presented before the court on Friday.
“The roles of the Joint Sub-Registrar and the Registry Clerk are also under scrutiny,” the spokesperson added, indicating further action in the case.
