Patiala, Feb 18: The sixth day of the Patiala Heritage Festival reached new heights as legendary Punjabi singers Manmohan Waris and Kamal Heer delivered a captivating performance at the Polo Ground. Organised by the Punjab Government, the evening saw a massive gathering of Patiala residents who participated in the celebration of traditional folk and Sufi music.

The event, held under the guidance of the District Administration and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Tourism, began with a soulful performance by Manak Ali. The singer set a spiritual tone for the night by performing Sufi classics such as “Bismillah” and Shah Hussain’s “Man Atkiya Beparwah De Naam Te.” His performance was followed by Kamal Heer, who energized the crowd with hits like “Bachpan” and “Kaintha,” prompting many in the audience to perform Bhangra.

Manmohan Waris continued the momentum by performing some of his most iconic tracks, including “Tell the children who Punjab is called” and “Dil Udjun Udjun Karda.” The brothers eventually took the stage together, performing a series of collaborative hits that kept the packed stadium engaged until late into the night. They expressed their appreciation for the state government’s efforts in hosting such festivals, stating that these platforms allow the younger generation to connect with their rich cultural roots.

Mayor Kundan Gogia, District Planning Committee Chairman Tejinder Mehta, and Improvement Trust Chairman Jassi Sohianwala praised the initiative following the performance. They affirmed that the festival, organized under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, serves as a vital bridge between Punjab’s storied past and its future. The officials maintained that clean, heritage-based singing provides a positive message to the youth and encourages them to uphold high moral values through music.

Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia and SSP Varun Sharma were among the senior officials who honored the artists during the ceremony. The administration noted that the overwhelming response from the public underscores the importance of these cultural fairs in preserving the state’s valuable heritage.
