TARN TARAN, October 30: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday accused both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of letting gangster culture thrive in the state through their “sins of omission and commission.”
Speaking to reporters during his campaign for Congress candidate Karanbir Singh Burj in the Tarn Taran by-election, Warring said the AAP government had failed to take effective action against gangsters, while the Akalis had “collaborated with them for political gain.”
“We can’t let Punjab turn into ‘jungle raj’. If strong and tough measures are not taken now, lawlessness will only deepen,” he warned.
Warring said the Congress, if voted to power in 2027, would set a short and clear deadline to eliminate gangster culture from Punjab. “Once the Congress government is formed, we will finish crime and gangsterism in a time-bound manner,” he said.
