MUMBAI, 28 February – The Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline received a threat message from a Pakistan-based number warning of an explosion at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ office in Mantralaya, officials said Thursday.

A case has been registered at Worli police station, and an investigation is underway. The message, written in English, came from a sender identifying himself as Malik Shahbaz Raza, an official mentioned.

Authorities are treating the threat seriously, considering past instances of similar messages. “We have received such threats before and act on each case with due diligence,” the official added.

In November last year, the helpline received a message threatening actor Salman Khan and demanding ₹5 crore in extortion.

A month later, a threat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Jharkhand resident from Rajasthan.

More recently, on February 21, a message warned of an attack on Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s vehicle, resulting in the arrest of two suspects from Buldhana.
