Chandigarh, April 30: The Aam Aadmi Party expanded its influence within Punjab’s athletic community on Thursday as renowned wrestler Pritpal Singh Phagwara officially joined the ranks in Chandigarh. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led the formal induction ceremony, marking a strategic addition for the party particularly within the Doaba region.
Pritpal Singh, a distinguished athlete who holds the prestigious Rustum-e-Hind and Hind Kesari titles, was presented with a traditional siropa by the Chief Minister. The induction took place in the presence of OSD Rajvir Singh, signaling the party’s continued effort to integrate prominent local figures into its political fold.
The Chief Minister affirmed that the increasing confidence displayed by athletes and the younger generation indicates a positive shift in the state’s trajectory. He maintained that having dedicated sportspersons like Pritpal Singh involved in the party’s mission serves to strengthen its foundational reach across Punjab.
During the event, Pritpal Singh declared that his decision to enter the political arena was motivated by the current administration’s vision for a prosperous state. He asserted that the dedication shown by the Chief Minister toward the “Rangla Punjab” initiative served as a primary catalyst for his transition from sports to public service.
The wrestler committed to utilizing his new platform to promote athletic engagement among the youth and ensure that government welfare programs reach citizens at the grassroots level.
