Gharuan, 25 February — A wushu player participating in the All-India Inter-University Wushu Championship at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, died after collapsing during a match, officials said.
Sources mentioned that the player, reportedly from Rajasthan, suffered a cardiac arrest in the evening.
Witnesses claimed he collapsed on the mat after being knocked out and struggling to re-enter the bout zone. The referee called for assistance as the player remained unresponsive.
Gharuan SHO Kamal Taneja confirmed the incident. “The body has been kept in the mortuary at Civil Hospital, Kharar. The family has been informed, and a post-mortem will be conducted,” he stated. Officials are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.
