Chandigarh, 11 February 2025: YouTube on Tuesday removed a video featuring Ranveer Allahbadia following a notice from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which raised concerns over the content’s impact on young audiences.

The influencer, known as BeerBiceps, has since apologized for his remarks made on the YouTube reality show India’s Got Latent, hosted by stand-up comedian Samay Raina.

Allahbadia, who has over 10.5 million YouTube subscribers, 4.5 million Instagram followers, and 600,000 followers on X, became a trending topic after his comments on the show sparked controversy. In the episode, which is popular among younger audiences for its edgy humor, he asked a contestant a question about parents and sex.

The remarks were widely criticized, leading to a backlash on social media.

Amid the uproar, Guwahati Police on Monday registered a case against Allahbadia and four others—stand-up comedians Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.

The case was filed after a city resident lodged a complaint accusing them of promoting obscenity in a publicly accessible online show.

Following the controversy, Allahbadia issued an apology on X, acknowledging that his remarks were inappropriate and not humorous.

“Comedy is not my forte. Just here to say sorry,” he said in a video message.

“Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform. Obviously, this is not how I wish to use my platform. I am not going to give any context, justification, or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here for an apology. I, personally, had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part.”

Addressing criticism that his content negatively influences young audiences, Allahbadia insisted that he takes responsibility seriously.

“Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better, and that’s been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better. Have asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections, and all I can say in the end is sorry. I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he said.

Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a statement condemning Allahbadia’s remarks, calling them “reprehensible and offensive.”

“In a recent episode, Ranveer Allahbadia, who participated in the YouTube show India’s Got Latent, unleashed abhorrent and vile statements that are deeply disrespectful to our societal and family values,” the association said.

“Such disgraceful content is utterly unacceptable and poses a significant threat to the moral fabric of our society.”

Allahbadia, a prominent digital content creator, was among those honored with a National Creators Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.

He has also collaborated with the Digital India Corporation to interview Cabinet Ministers in the past.
