HISAR, MAY 24: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra is under multi-agency interrogation in Hisar, with police teams from Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan arriving to question her about alleged video recordings in sensitive areas near the Pakistan border and her recent travel to Kashmir prior to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Malhotra, who is currently in the custody of Hisar police for four days, is being questioned by Special Investigation Teams (SITs) from both states as well as central agencies, police sources confirmed. “The police of these states also want to question her. Though she is in custody of Hisar police for four days, the interrogators from other states and Central agencies have been grilling her,” said an official familiar with the matter.
Sources said she had filmed material in restricted zones along the international border in Rajasthan and visited Kashmir shortly before the April 22 Pahalgam incident, where 26 civilians lost their lives in a terror attack.
The investigating teams have submitted detailed question lists to the Civil Lines police station, coordinating with local authorities to streamline the interrogation process. While officials suggested that Malhotra may be taken to Jammu and Kashmir to identify specific locations, there has been no official confirmation.
Meanwhile, Malhotra’s father, Harish Malhotra, told reporters he was unable to see his daughter during her court appearance on Thursday. “I was told that she would be produced in court in the afternoon, so I went there. But by the time I reached the venue, she had already left,” he said.
During the hearing, Jyoti informed the judge that she had not hired a private lawyer. In response, the court assigned her legal representation through the Defence Legal Aid Counsel (DLAC). Lawyers affiliated with DLAC, who were already present in court, appeared on her behalf.
In a related political development, the Haryana Congress Legal Department has lodged a formal complaint with the Hisar police against several BJP leaders for allegedly circulating a doctored image showing Malhotra alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, implying false links to spying charges.
Congress leader Lal Bahadur Khowal met with the Superintendent of Police in Hisar to press for an FIR and legal action against the BJP figures involved.
