MOHALI, June 4: Punjab’s State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) has exposed a major espionage and terror-linked network, arresting Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Mahlan village in Rupnagar district.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced the breakthrough in a post on X, stating, “Jasbir Singh, who operates the YouTube channel Jaan Mahal, has been found connected to individuals engaged in anti-national activities.”

According to investigators, Singh maintained a close relationship with a person of Indian origin, Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa — a key operative in the espionage ring with suspected terror affiliations.

“He was also in regular touch with Jyoti Malhotra, a Haryana-based YouTuber arrested earlier for spying, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national expelled from the Pakistan High Commission,” Yadav said.

Authorities revealed that Singh was invited by Danish to attend the Pakistan National Day celebrations in Delhi, where he allegedly interacted with Pakistani Army officials and vloggers known to have intelligence links.

Further inquiries showed Singh traveled to Pakistan on three separate occasions — in 2020, 2021, and most recently in 2024. Forensic analysis is underway on his seized electronic devices, which contain multiple Pakistan-based contacts.

“After Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir tried to wipe out his communications with members of the network, apparently in an attempt to evade detection,” the DGP said.

A First Information Report has been lodged at SSOC, Mohali, as the probe widens to uncover the full scope of the network and its collaborators.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we are committed to dismantling every link in this anti-national chain,” Yadav added.
